Parshas Vayakhel – ויקהל

Parshas Vayakhel reviews the kelim and garments that were used in the Mishkan. Many of the covers and curtains were woven in reds and blues.

We made blueberry and cherry pie with a “woven” crust.

  1. WOW!!!! My mouth is hanging open and I’m drooling! (Okay, not really – but I’m totally amazed). Your parsha deserts (and related) are INCREDIBLE!!!!
I was on my way to bed about an hour ago – but got stuck on your blog!!!
Do you care to share the recipe you used for this week’s parsha pie?
    Thanks

    • Thanks – here is the pie recipe:
      4 c flour
      1 Tbsp sugar
      2 tsp salt
      1 3/4 c shortening
      1/2 c water
      1 Tbsp vinegar
      1 egg

Mix all ingredients, chill for 30 min, roll out and place in 9in tins. Bake for 10 min @ 450, then pour in cherry or blueberry pie filling and place additional dough on top to cover. (I rolled it out, sliced thin strips and weaved them one over the other to get the lattice effect) Bake for 20 min @ 450
Yields 2 pies with enough for the top and bottom.

      Good luck!
