Parshas Vayechi – ויחי

In this week\’s Parsha Yaakov blesses his sons before he dies. He compares several of them to different animals.

We made lion pops to represent Yehuda who is compared to a lion.

1 – Make peanut butter rice krispie treats
Rice Krispie treats:
1 c peanut butter
1 c corn syrup
1 c sugar
Melt and pour over 5 cups rice krispies. Mix well so all of the rice krispies are evenly coated

2 – While it is still hot, form into balls and stick on skewers. It may seem shaky, but when it dries it should stay in firmly.3 – Once the rice krispie pops have hardened make the peanut butter frosting and pipe the ears and nose onto the balls.
Peanut butter frosting:
1/2 c peanut butter
1 c confectionery sugar
2 tsp hot water
4 – Wait until the the frosting hardens before continuing.

5 – Melt about 1 cup of chocolate chips and pipe the eyes and nose details onto the face.

6 – Add a mini pink chocolate lentil for the nose tip. Just pressing it in while the chocolate is still hot should be fine.

7 – Make the lions\’s mane using your favorite chocolate icing recipe (make sure it is stiff enough).
Chocolate icing:
1 c confectionery sugar
3/4 c chocolate chips
1/4 c shortening
1/2 c peanut better
Melt all ingredients together, then refrigerate until slightly stiff

8 – Pipe the chocolate in a circle around the rice Krispie balls to look like a lions mane.
