Perek 3 1-Loving your friend like yourself is a positive commandment and a major Torah Principle. 2-One who is able to pray for pity on his friend and chooses not to do so is called a sinner. 3-If his friend is a talmud chacham one must even agonize oneself to pray for him.. 4-He should ask mercy for his friend regardless of whether or not the friend has physical pain or property damage. 5-If the friend for whom you are praying for has the same need as you it is better to pray for him rather than yourself since your need will be met before his. 6-If the whole of Klal Yisroel has the same need as the ones for whom you are praying it is best to pray for everyone as the merit of the many will cause your prayers to be heard. 7-One should pray that the sick are healed, that weak Talmidei Chachamim get healthy and learn Torah for its own sake and for wayward Jews to repent. 8-When one asks mercy for his friend it is not required to mention his friends name as long as his friend is present, however if he is not present then one should mention his name. 9-One should teach others healthy hints and prescriptions for healing. 10- One should have mercy on others, supplicate on their behalf and perform acts of kindness with them. Through this one is following after a characteristic of the Lord. 11- If you promised to do your friend a favor be sure to carry it through and not go back on your word even if you made the promise contingent on a specific condition. One should strive to forget the ones who wronged him and recall the good which was performed on his behalf for these are characteristics of the Holy One Blessed Be He.
